The TerraMaster D8 Hybrid is a modern DAS enclosure equipped with 8 bays that combines the capacity of traditional SATA HDDs with the high performance of M.2 NVMe SSDs. The design supports 4 SATA drives and 4 M.2 NVMe drives, offering a maximum raw capacity of up to 120 TB. Thanks to the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C interface with a bandwidth of up to 10 Gb/s, the device ensures fast data transfer and seamless compatibility with computers running Windows, macOS, and Linux. It’s a practical solution for users who need ample space for files, backups, and projects requiring fast data access.

A combination of fast SSDs and high-capacity HDDs

The D8 Hybrid is designed for efficient management of various types of data. Users can store their most frequently used files on high-performance M.2 NVMe SSDs, while archiving, multimedia, and backups can be stored on high-capacity HDDs. This solution allows for better use of available space and optimizes data storage costs. The ability to manually assign data to the appropriate storage media makes it easy to tailor the device to your individual workflow.

The enclosure uses a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C interface, which offers a bandwidth of up to 10 Gb/s. This makes copying large files, photo libraries, or video footage significantly faster than with older connection standards. Data read speeds from a single M.2 NVMe drive can reach up to 980 MB/s, which translates to smoother handling of demanding projects. Thanks to support for USB 3.0, USB 3.1, USB 3.2, USB4, Thunderbolt 3, and Thunderbolt 4 standards, the enclosure works seamlessly with a wide range of computers and devices. Support for the NTFS, APFS, EXT4, FAT32, and exFAT file systems enables convenient data exchange between different platforms. The exFAT format is particularly useful, as it supports large files and allows for easy transfer between Windows, macOS, and NAS devices. Since no additional drivers need to be installed, the device is ready to use immediately after connection.

Quiet Operation and Thoughtful Design

Despite its ability to support eight storage drives, the TerraMaster D8 Hybrid remains compact and operates at a low noise level of approximately 21 dB(A). Effective cooling is provided by an intelligently controlled 120 mm fan that automatically adjusts its speed based on the device’s temperature.
