Features:
Blade
The Opinel Oyster Knife No. 9 has a blade length of 6.5 cm. The blade is made of 12C27 stainless steel, modified by Sandvik and adapted for Opinel knives, and is renowned for its extremely high quality and easy daily maintenance. The steel is hardened by heat treatment with martensitic hardening. The carbon content of this steel is at least 0,40 %, which makes the blade of high quality and resistant to corrosion.
Rankena
Bubinga - also known as congin giburtium - is a luxurious tree from West Africa. The colour can vary from dark brown to dark red.
Virobloc safety ring
The Opinel No. 9, like all other Opinel curved knives starting with the No. 6, is equipped with the Virobloc safety ring invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955. The Virobloc ring, cut from stainless steel, consists of two parts: a fixed and a sliding part. The blade is locked in both a folded position (for safe handling) and a folded position (for safety during transport).
