Blade

Opinion pocket knife #8 Blade length - 8,5 cm. The blade is made of 12C27 stainless steel, modified by Sandvik and adapted to Opinel knives, and is renowned for its extremely high quality and easy daily maintenance. The steel is hardened by heat treatment with martensitic hardening. The carbon content of this steel is at least 0,40 %, which makes the blade of high quality and resistant to corrosion. Blade strength: 57-58 HRC.

Handle

The wood, which comes from Finnish birch, is white in colour. The distinctive look and shape of the handle is achieved by individually painting the wood blocks and joining them together. The colour of the handle is red.

Virobloc safety ring
This pocketknife No. 8, like all other Opinel curved knives from No. 6 onwards, has a Virobloc safety ring invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955. The Virobloc ring, which is cut from stainless steel, consists of two parts: a fixed and a sliding part. The blade is locked in both a folded position (for safe handling) and a folded position (for safety during transport).
