Blade

Opinel Pocket Knife #12 Blade length - 10 cm. The blade is made of 12C27 stainless steel, modified by Sandvik and adapted to Opinel knives, and is renowned for its extremely high quality and easy daily maintenance. The steel is hardened by heat treatment with martensitic hardening. With a carbon content of at least 0.40%, the blade is of high quality and corrosion resistant.

Handle

Glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide, resistant to impact, humidity and extreme temperatures (-40°C to +80°C). The survival whistle works in all weathers (110 decibels).

Virobloc safety ring
The Opinel knife No. 8, like all other Opinel curved knives starting with the No. 6, is equipped with the Virobloc safety ring invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955. The Virobloc ring, which is cut from stainless steel, consists of two parts: a fixed and a sliding part. The blade is locked in both a folded position (for safe handling) and a folded position (for safety during transport).
