The most effective and safest way to deal with insects is to repel them. Thermacell offers a line of portable mosquito and mosquito repellents that use cartridges saturated with the active agent d-alethrin.
This is a synthetic equivalent of an ingredient found in chrysanthemums, used by the flowers to defend themselves against pests. Unlike the substance Deet alethrin is a natural substance therefore it is completely safe for humans and animals.
Thermacell works on all types of mosquitoes, including tropical ones, creating a protective umbrella of 20m2.
Operation
Thermacell devices work similarly to a tourist gas stove. A replaceable gas cartridge is used to power the heating element. The heat generated heats the d-alethrin cartridge, providing up to 4 hours of effective protection.
The repellent provides odorless and invisible protection against mosquitoes and other pests responsible for transmitting viruses and other dangerous human diseases.
The Thermacell repellents have been tested for safety and effectiveness by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
