Red light is most often used to protect night vision. With the red light, you can see better in the dark after the lamp is turned off. For example, you can advantageously use the red light when navigating, reading the surroundings and reading maps, without losing your night vision. In addition, certain game, such as deer, do not see the red spectrum well and therefore do not scare the animal as easily with red light. Red light provides the absolute best protection against night vision and disturbs some animals less, but is significantly dimmer than green light.
