Victorinox

in 1884 Karl Elsener, an ordinary guy who decided to fight against poverty and unemployment, opened his own knife workshop.

in 1891 he first introduced the military knife to the Swiss Army. He continued to develop the industry, and in 1897 he patented the design of the "Officer's Knife" and the "Sportsman's Knife", which later helped him make a living. Light, elegant, with a smooth handle, the knife came with an extra blade and a corkscrew.

1909 Elsener has created a unique distinguishing mark for its production knives. The Swiss government allowed the Swiss emblem, a cross inlaid into the smooth red handle of the knife, to be placed on its products.

in 1921 the company was named Victorinox (a portmanteau of "Victoria" which was Carl's mother's name and "knox", stainless steel).

In 1989, the company started producing Swiss watches, and in 1999, the range expanded to the production of bags and suitcases.

In 2001, the company started producing kitchen knives and accessories, as well as pocket tools.

in 2005 Victorinox bought competitor Wenger. The well-recognizable, albeit slightly modified, models of Wenger knives have been preserved by Victorinox in a special collection, the Delemont Collection (2014).

Today, the Victorinox brand is the largest knife manufacturer in Europe. The company's products have stood the test of time. Only proven high-quality materials, carefully selected and thoroughly tested are used in production. Even in the most extreme situations, Victorinox was a reliable friend, assistant, and sometimes even his savior.
